Gifts fit for a baby Prince from Political Leaders

Most people settle for a teddy bear, clothes or comforter toy when sending gifts to celebrate the birth of a baby.  But not if you are one of Britain's political leaders who have revealed the unusual gifts that they have sent to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for Prince George.

They include an apple tree, a blanket embroidered by Spanish nuns plus a set of stories by Roald Dahl, author of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.  The book set is a gift from David and Samantha Cameron.

Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg and his wife Miriam sent the first-time parents a large bag of coffee to help them cope with the tiredness caused by sleepless nights.  They also gave George a white cot cover and sheet, embroidered by nuns in Miriam's home village in Spain.

12494396-apple-treeLabour leader Ed Miliband gave a three-year-old apple tree, which is a traditional gift for a first-born son.  It already has some fruit growing on it and was sourced from local community groups, the Brent Eleven Streets residents association and the London Orchard Project.

Kensington Palace is believed to have been inundated with new baby gifts from well-wishers around the world including a live baby crocodile named George.  Happily the official gift from Australia's Northern Territory is being kept at a local zoo!!
