Where should it take place?

Often baby showers are simply held at the host's house. If you want to throw a baby shower but your own house isn't suitable or big enough, you could consider asking another friend (with a bigger house!) to co-host the event with you. Alternatively you could book a big table for lunch or dinner at a restaurant, or even hire a venue!
