A naming celebration could simply be described as the non-religious alternative to a christening. It is called a 'naming' celebration, but it is more about welcoming your child into your family and the world, giving you an opportunity to mark the occasion of their birth, and sharing the experience with other people who will be important to your child, and he or she grows up.
